Through a series of events I was given the opportunity to compete in the Warriors Challenge as part of the Patriot Running Festival in Williamsburg, VA. This event involves completing a 5K, 8K and Half Marathon over a 3 day span. This is not something I would have signed up for on my own. Upon completing it I now will say that I truly enjoyed it and I'm glad I was given the opportunity.

In the weeks/days leading up to the event I was nervous.  I had never attempted to run so many events back to back.  As it stood I was not the greatest runner to begin with.  I have completed several event prior of varying lengths, but through all of them I've dealt with at least one ailment or another. I enjoy running but my body has had a love/hate relationship.  I'm hoping in time this will change.

Standing in the pack waiting for the start of the first leg, the 5K run, to start I got butterflies in my stomach.  Not in the way you might think.  I was at the event with about 5 others who knew me and 3 of which we running as well. Each of these individuals I would classify as multiple levels above me in the running department. In the build up to the event we were grouped together killing time and chatting.  When the time had come to get to the start line I started to feel really good about running.  This was a rarity since I usually harp on all that could go wrong. I got excited to do this.
